Selling an apartment: betterment tax, mortgage and inherited apartments
Selling an apartment in a 30-second video
Video transcript
Three things to check before selling an apartment. Check whether a betterment tax exemption applies, because that determines how much you will be left with. If there is a mortgage, plan its repayment in the agreement so that the buyer receives an apartment free of any charge. And if the apartment was inherited, first sort out the inheritance and check the tax that applies to the sale.
For the full explanation: Selling an apartment: two things determine the outcome, the tax and the agreement. A seller who comes to a transaction without checking his betterment tax exposure in advance may discover after signing that the net proceeds are much lower than he thought. In addition, an agreement drafted by the buyer tends to impose on the seller liability far wider than necessary. A lawyer acting for you on the sale of an apartment deals with both of these together.
